Etta James is so Great.

I’m posting these lyrics today because I totally dig this song. Everyone is familiar with “At Last” and it’s a great song… but this song is just as great and really moves. I wanted to post the lyrics as I hear them. Pick up the album that has this on it. You won’t regret it.

I Just Want to Make Love to You
Etta James

I don’t want you
to be no slave
I don’t want you
to work all day
But I want you
To be true
And I just wanna make love to you.
Love to you.
Ooooo.
Love to you.

All I want to do is
wash your clothes
I don’t want to keep
You indoors

There is nothing for
You to do
But keep me making love to you
Love to you.
Ooooo.
Love to you.

And I can tell by the way you
Walk that walk
And I can hear by the way you
Talk that talk
And I can know by the way you
Treat your girl
That I could give you all the loving
In the whole wide world

All I want to do is
Bake your bread
Just to make sure
You’re well fed
I don’t want you
Sad and blue
And I just wanna make love to you

Love to you.
Ooooo.
Love to you.
Oooo.

And I can tell by the way you
Walk that walk
And I can hear by the way you
Talk that talk
And I can know by the way you
Treat your girl
That I could give you all the loving
In the whole wide world

All I want to do (oh all I wanna do) is cook your bread
Just to make sure you’re well fed!
I don’t want you
sad and blue
And I just wanna make love to you.

Love to you.
Ooooo.
Yeah, love to you.
Ooooo.

Love to you.
Ooooo.

Happy St. Patricks Day!

This mornin’ I put on me green derby as I headed out for work! A hearty, happy St. Patrick’s Day to all of ya and yer kin!

Heather has been in a sales training session since yesterday. It wouldn’t be so bad except that they are making them stay in the nicest hotel downtown… the Grand Hotel. They went to ACME last night and have generally been cavorting and having a good time. From what I can tell, it’s little more an excuse for the sales force to ‘bond’ than to actually learn about selling or their products. But that’s not the point. The point is I don’t like it when she’s gone. I miss her even after a day.

Last night, my friend Rob came over though and we had a good time. We had Mexican pizza and watched the Incredibles. I hadn’t seen it yet and was anticipating it would be good… but it was far better than I expected. It was every good super-hero movie combined with James Bond rolled into one fantastic package. It truly deserved the Academy award. I’d watch it over and over and over again and probably will.

Tonight Heather will return and we’re hosting a little St. Patty’s Day celebration at our house. It should be a lot of fun. Adam, Dena, Tom, Gwenn, Amy, Andy, Rob, Ben and Noah (and possibly Hutch) are all planning on attending. I’ve selected some traditional Irish music to listen to for the evening and we’ll likely play darts, socialize and generally have a good time.

Hope all of you have a safe holiday and we’ll talk with you soon!

I Finally Saw Swingers

This last weekend, thanks to my fiancee Heather, I finally saw the 1996 film: Swingers. Let me tell you, this film is MONEY. And of course you see the inspiration for my latest blog header. I also saw Reality Bites which I had not seen before. I didn’t like that film as much as swingers, but Heather really likes it. I also finished Jaws recently. I have no idea why I hadn’t seen that film up until this year but I am glad I finally did.

Did you live in under a rock? Are you crazy?! What do you mean you haven’t seen that? You have to see that movie!

All phrases I’m used to hearing. People think I am Mr. Movie himself. In fact, I have seen a LOT of movies. However, most of what I like is fantasy and/or science fiction and I’m not too particular about excellence. In other words, my tastes where films are concerned don’t really reflect the quality of said films. Here are some examples of films I like. Keep in mind, many of these are “A List” but many are not. In either case, I’d urge anyone who would like to understand Adam Kooyer just a little bit better to watch them.

  • Alien 1979
  • Superman 1978
  • Condorman 1981
  • Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan 1982
  • E.T. 1982
  • Barbarella 1968
  • Our Man Flint 1966
  • Dark City 1998
  • Donnie Darko 2001
  • The Dark Crystal 1982
  • Star Wars 1977
  • Empire Strikes Back 1980
  • Almost any Bond Film (the only one I don’t like: World is not Enough)
  • The Hunt for Red October 1990
  • Batman 1969
  • Batman 1989
  • The Unidentified Flying Oddball 1979
  • Mary Poppins 1964
  • Moulin Rouge 2001
  • Run Lola Run 1998
  • John Carpenter’s: Escape from New York 1981
  • John Carpenter’s: The Thing 1982
  • John Carpenter’s: Big Trouble in Little China 1986
  • Amélie 2001

  • Conan 1981
  • Blue Hawaii 1961
  • Lilo and Stitch 2002
  • Logan’s Run 1976

And of course my list goes on and on and on. For more insight into the mindful/mindless entertainment I enjoy see my DVD collection to the left. Hee hee.

Anyway, on my list of not yet seen films is: Animal House, The Jerk and National Lampoon’s: Vacation.
