Paint Your Own Plate!

Last weekend Heather and I went to this place with our friends Chrissy and Justin in Edina called Paint Your Plate. It’s an interesting concept, really. It’s also a great place to take a date or your kids or just yourself. In any case, you will want to reserve a table before you go. It works like this:

1. You choose your piece of Pottery.

They have a variety of unglazed, unfinished pottery for you to choose from–all of it machine made. If there were any hand made pieces I didn’t see them. They are a bright white and ready for glaze.

2. You choose your ‘paint’ or glaze.

There are hundreds of colors. A couple of mine were called “Moody Blue” and “Really Red”. They have every color of the rainbow and some paints that end up with a glitter effect or spotted effect once fired.

3. You sit down and paint!

I painted a Christmas bulb with Kermit the Frog on it. Heather painted an olive tray. Chrissy painted a lovely dinner tray and Justin painted a Christmas ornament for his mom… or his sister… or some other weirdo over in Wisconsin. 😉 Apparently they have a party room in the back that holds up to 20 people. They suggest their space for birthday parties and corporate functions. The space is tight though. And the paint is probably in the most confined area of the whole place. Which makes it sort of difficult when your trying to find number 181 and there are 10 other people looking at glaze. They also have wine nights where you BYOB. We were there for Margarita night–which was good. I had a frozen virgin margarita that was not too bad.

It was truly relaxing and I didn’t have to talk much which is nice because I was tired and my throat needed the rest that night. But it was exactly the type of evening I needed. Thanks guys!
